West, South or National Park: which rim?
From Las Vegas, almost all flights head to the Grand Canyon West Rim, on Hualapai tribal land. It is the closest: about 45 minutes of flying, against more than an hour to the National Park’s South Rim. For a day trip, it is the logical choice.
The more iconic, more dizzying South Rim is better reached by plane or car over a full day. We save it for those who come for the canyon itself, not as a side trip from Vegas.
Flyover or landing on the floor
The cheapest option is a round trip flyover without landing. The most popular one adds a landing 1,100 metres below the rim, on the canyon floor, with a few minutes on the ground. It is that moment, more than the flight, that stays with you.
Some options combine helicopter, a boat on the Colorado and the Skywalk (the glass bridge). They fill the day but stretch it; check transfer times before booking.
What is usually included
Hotel pickup is common, as are landing fees on Hualapai land. Champagne and a snack often come with the landing. Read the details: the Skywalk is almost always an add-on.
